EndoMD Health Expands to Maryland to Address Pediatric Endocrine Shortage
NEWS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 10, 2024
RICHMOND, Virginia – EndoMD Health, the nation’s first 100% virtual pediatric endocrinology practice, is excited to announce the expansion of its services into Maryland, bringing expert telehealth care to children and families in need of specialized endocrinology services. Starting December 10, 2024, Maryland families will be able to access EndoMD Health’s innovative telehealth platform, combining medical care with lifestyle and emotional coaching support to help children with endocrine disorders thrive.
This expansion reflects our commitment to making pediatric endocrinology care more accessible and convenient for families, particularly as the demand for services increases. The clinic’s telehealth model delivers high-quality care from EndoMD Health’s experienced team, ensuring that Maryland families receive the same trusted care that has already benefited patients in Virginia.
With only two pediatric endocrinologists per 100,000 children in the U.S., many families face long wait times and must travel great distances to access care. EndoMD Health addresses these barriers by offering fast, convenient, and remote access to board-certified pediatric endocrinologists specializing in growth, weight, and thyroid issues.
“We are excited to bring our trusted pediatric endocrinology services to Maryland,” said Dr. Ladan Davallow, pediatric endocrinologist at EndoMD Health. “As childhood obesity and type 2 diabetes rates continue to rise, the need for specialized care has never been greater. Our mission is to help children access timely, effective care that helps them thrive, wherever they are.”
Dr. Davallow continued, “We are confident that our Maryland expansion will make a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of local children, offering them the care they need without the added stress of long travel or long wait times.”
The rise in childhood obesity and its connection to endocrine health is particularly concerning. According to the CDC, 20% of children in the U.S. aged 2-19 are affected by obesity, and a 2023 study in Diabetes Care predicts a potential 700% increase in type 2 diabetes cases among children by 2060 without proper intervention. This underscores the critical need for accessible pediatric endocrinology services, like those offered by EndoMD Health.
EndoMD Health provides families with both fee-for-service consults and three specialized membership plans: Healthy Weight, Healthy Growth, and Healthy Thyroid. Each plan is designed to help families stay on track with their health goals and receive the care and support they need to manage their child’s endocrine health effectively.
To introduce its services in Maryland, EndoMD Health is hosting a free, live webinar titled “Why Is My Child Not Growing?” on December 13, 2024, at 3:00 PM EST. Dr. Davallow will present the session, providing valuable insights into common growth concerns and answering questions from parents and caregivers.
