Prepare for your first video visit

Your first visit starts with listening

Meet our endocrinology team from home. Together, we’ll understand your concerns, explore your options and agree on the next steps.

You don’t need labs or a questionnaire before you request a visit.

Before your visit

We’ll help you get ready

You can request a visit before gathering records. We’ll explain what to share and how to send it securely.

We handle the setup

We help with scheduling, checking coverage and preparing for your visit.

Bring what you already have

Your questions, medicine list, and earlier results or growth measurements can help.

Join from a private space

Use a phone, tablet or computer with a camera. The patient must be in Virginia or Maryland.

During your visit

A conversation with a clear direction

The goal is to understand your needs and help you move forward with confidence.

  1. Meet your clinician

Connect by video with the endocrinology team and begin with your questions.

  2. Share what matters

Tell us about the changes, symptoms and priorities that brought you to care.

  3. Review your health

Discuss health history, medicines and available growth information.

  4. Decide what needs checking

Your clinician considers whether an exam, measurements or lab tests would help.

  5. Explore your options

Talk through goals and treatment choices that fit your health, age and daily life.

  6. Agree on the next step

Review the plan, follow-up and how to contact the team with questions.

After your visit

A plan you understand

Your clinician explains the recommendations and follow-up. If you need tests, an in-person exam or nutrition support, we help you understand the next step.

Questions about the first visit

Contact our team
Do I need records before requesting an appointment?

You can request care before gathering records or arranging tests. Share existing results if available; your clinician decides whether new tests are needed.

Do I need to travel to Richmond?

No. Your first visit is by video, with the patient in Virginia or Maryland. Your clinician will explain whether an in-person assessment is needed afterward.

How long is the first visit?

Our team tells you the expected length when they schedule your visit, so you can plan around school or work.

Will medication be prescribed at the first visit?

Only if your clinician determines it is appropriate after the evaluation. The first visit may instead focus on further testing, other treatment options and next steps.

Can my teen talk with the clinician alone?

Yes. Part of a teen’s visit may be one-on-one so they can ask questions privately. Ask the care team about private time during the visit.
